Meet Matthew N. Maxfield DMD
Board-Certified Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeon in Cottonwood Heights
Dr. Maxfield grew up in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. He attended Brighton High School then served a two-year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Tampico, Mexico. Following his missionary service, he studied Biology at the University of Utah. After he completed undergraduate studies, Dr. Maxfield attended the University of Louisville School of Dentistry in Louisville, Kentucky, where he graduated magna cum laude in the top of his class. He was accepted into an Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery residency at the VCU Medical Center in Richmond, Virginia, where he served as chief resident. His training included extensive experience in the full scope of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery including office and hospital-based surgical and anesthesia training. He continues to practice the full scope of his profession enjoying work in both private practice and hospital trauma.
Dr. Maxfield has lectured to many groups including the Virginia Society of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons on current therapies in facial trauma. He is engaged with the American Association and Utah Association of Oral & Maxillofacial Surgeons where he participates in continuing education curriculum. Dr. Maxfield is fluent in Spanish and has participated in mission trips to Central America where he has helped children with congenital or acquired facial deformities.
Dr. Maxfield and his wife, Heidi, have four wonderful children. They enjoy boating and winter sports, and playing all kinds of sports. In his free time, Dr. Maxfield can be found playing his guitar, competing in tennis and participating in CrossFit.
